Stefan Eder is the initiator and chairman of the ‘Research Meets Practice’ platform and is also co-chairman of the IRIS Legal Informatics Conference.
MMag. Dr. Stefan Eder is a lawyer and partner at Benn-Ibler attorneys.
His practice focuses on IT law, cybersecurity, data protection and compliance, where he has been advising entrepreneurs, companies and the public sector for 30 years. In his work, he also deals with legal engineering in connection with the evaluation of large databases for information gathering for legal purposes. In doing so, he draws on the expertise and technical understanding he acquired during his studies in business informatics. This enables him to bridge the gap between the two worlds.
He is the editor of USANCEN:Rechtsnews and Cybersecurity blog, as well as the Legal Informatics Newsletter on LinkedIn.
He also lectures on legal tech at the University of Saarbrücken and the University of Vienna - Juridicum, and on insolvency law and restructuring at the Vienna University of Technology.
Stefan Eder is also a partner at Cybly GmbH, which operates LawThek. LawThek is a freely accessible, multilingual, international legal database in the form of a knowledge graph. Another focus of Cybly GmbH is international research projects and applications relating to aspects of legal data mining and the use of AI tools in this context. Stefan Eder also deals in particular with aspects of the automation of legal processes.
